Exploring Jaun and rivers near home...

So after exploring the chocolate factory and visiting Gruyere , we drove to Jaun... Views on the way... The church in Jaun (church 6) The unique cemetery in Jaun Where carvings like these are found on all the graves... Beautiful wood carved memorial... The hobbies/passion of the person who passed away is carved on these tomb markers... A peaceful resting place... Stunning flowers on the way to the falls I always think colours are more colourful here in Switzerland. Red is more redder, green is more greener, the sky seems more bluer... hues are more deeper here. And I realised its probably because of the way sunlight hits this region. I've never had a problem being out in sunlight; I live in Chennai, where the summers are harsh and all I needed was a dupatta or a cap when I'm outdoors. Chapel, chocolate and cheese... visiting Cailler and Gruyere.

The next day being Wednesday, we went to Église Sainte-Marie du Peuple (Church of St. Mary of the People) to attend the 8:30am mass and visit an old friend who is a priest. St. Marie du Peuple is architecturally striking and one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. This is how it looks on the outside, simple and elegant, with no hint of the magic inside. The interior of the small church... the church is quite small and can seat about ten people comfortably. Those open niches where natural light just pours in and strategically lights up the important aspects of this stunning chapel. (church 4) The open niche above the bible... This is how it looks... with natural light just streaming in on the words. The altar, where natural light streams in through the cross like opening... and the grooves to hold the light that constantly burns near the divine sacrament.
