Steve Irwin...

One of my favourite people on this planet died yesterday... of a stingray attack. He saw beauty in the most ugly, disgusting, slimy and horrendous creatures. He was a beacon of enthusiasm and inspiration. He loved nature in all it's form. He was reckless and passionate and bursting with energy and fervour. To him nature and all of creation was sacred and beautiful. He loved to waddle in marshy waters and play with giant reptiles, oh man, he really loved those fearsome reptiles. But he would never have used that adjective to describe them. To him they were lovely, wonderful, gorgeous, fantastic, fascinating, magnificent and beautiful. They were his pride and joy, he even named his daughter after his favourite reptile, Bindi. He lived an adventurous life caring for our earth and all the animals in it. His knowledge on wildlife was inexhaustible and his trademark phrases were infectious. It is a terrible loss and I can't begin to imagine what his family must be going through. But I do hope that they carry on his great work and continue to keep his name alive. Well, I know that Steve Irwin is happy in a place that is teeming with all sorts of wildlife and nature, bet he is riding a dinosaur now and yelling 'Isn't he just gorgeous...'
Here's to you mate for teaching us a lot... about the animals you adore and about living life to the fullest.

My pals were rather shaken too by this news... I had to do something. Went to the church and lit a candle for him and lit a few more on behalf of my friends, who felt his loss... especially anju.

Well, I have to say that I admire anyone who deals with animals so closely. I love animals too but I'm picky..I don't like reptiles and creepy crawlies. But the man was unbiased, impartial. And brave. I admire that. It would have been cooler if it was a shark though. Just kidding!

I heard bout Flipkart.com from Anju and that site has changed my life. All the books that I have been searching for since centuries, are now sitting prettily on my book shelf. Landmark is a thing of the past now... in fact Landmark is not what it used to be anymore, they do not seem to have stock on most of the good books. So I am deliriously thankful to the creators of flipkart, I seriously love you guys... continue with your fabulous work. Talking of books, here are a few people who have enriched my life with their recommendations of the written word... My brother Manoj for buying the ' The Partner ' by John Grisham . Now I hadn't heard of Grisham before so the book was just lying there at home. One day I got bored and picked it up, that was the start of my love affair with Grisham and legal thrillers in general. This was the first John Grisham book I read and it was in a word mindblowing. I couldn't set the book down, my heart was racing away with Patrick Laniga...

6 pm come soooooooon!

So here I am sitting in office on a Saturday and wondering what to do…. I don’t mind sitting here though, everybody is so relaxed and nobody ever works, or maybe they do work, only it doesn’t seem like that. It’s actually quiet and peaceful; I guess everybody is pretending to work… like me. I have a huge list in my head about the things I want to do tomorrow, and going to the library tops that list. I just finished reading “Circle of Friends” by Maeve Binchy and I loved it. It’s a story about two girls who grow up together in a convent school and when its time to go to university in the big town of Dublin, they discover gradually that they can depend on each other and their convent school upbringing to see them through the trying times. It was beautifully written, and it struck so close to home. I picked up another M&B book along with this Binchy book and I am going to return it tomorrow without bothering to complete it.
