Flying Croissants, Reblochons and White barked trees...

I can't believe my last post was in June! Just been so busy with life, university, people, my dissertation, Christmas... I completely let this blog slide away. Overall, I think Instagram is to blame though, it's much easier to post stuff there. But this blog is for remembrance, it's always fun to go back, read stuff and see how I've changed over the years. It's nostalgic and that's why I have to keep writing in here diligently. First, I think I should quickly complete my 2017 trip.... I stopped with last day in Barcelona

So, after an amazing four days in Barcelona, it was time to leave. So we woke up at 3 am, cause we had an early flight. And even at 4 am, people were sitting outside on the streets, talking, drinking and dancing. We reached the airport at 4:30 am and after a little drama we finally boarded our flight. Since it was an easy jet flight, we were allowed to carry only one cabin bag per person, and the shoulder bag which they usually allow was denied this time. They were quite finicky and said no shoulder bags or purses. So with difficulty we stuffed our backpacks into our cabin bags and while boarding, they come and tell us that the overhead lockers are full, so could we please remove our personal belongings and give them only the cabin bags. Me and Nam were like, what the !?@>#!
So anyway, we finally boarded and went to sleep right away. Reached Geneva around 8 am, took bus 23, reached home and slept again. Woke up and whiled away the time watching Vicky Cristina Barcelona, just to catch a glimpse of the place where we had roamed around for the past four days, the movie was quite crazy though.
Went to Manor for an awesome lunch.
I had some nice bread and mushroom baked dish.
The rest of the food...
The desserts... we came home slept again then went to a friend's house for dinner. Amidst all the talking, laughing and munching on good food, a pleasant evening passed by.
The next day was spent lazying around at home. Vinod made tartiflette, with a lot of reblochon cheese
It was quite good, except that the reblochon cheese leaves quite a weird aftertaste, and I'm not sure I like it.
The next day was a Sunday and after a breakfast of cornflakes, muesli and yogurt...
We started working on making mom's biryani.
Went for the evening mass at Notre Dame Cathedral. Came home and saw a movie, Under the Tuscan Sun, cause it was set in Tuscany, but the movie sucked big time.
The next day Vinod went to the doctor for a really bad throat infection and returned with these croissants for breakfast... good stuff.
Me and Nam decided to roam around, since Vinod just wanted a quiet house to rest...
We picked up something small to eat at Manor.
Outfit of the day... olive green sling bag, grey skirt, a black turtle neck t-shirt, nude shoes from target and a John Keats poetry book.
Just roaming around we came across these white barked trees.... so pretty.
There was a flea market in the old town...
Saw some Indian authors...
And Roy's 'God of Small Things'.
Walked into many stores and tried on cute dresses...
I especially liked this one..
Walking and walking, we came across this place... right near the Jet d'Eau.

A quaint little cafe called the Cottage Cafe...
Rest in the next post, this already seems long enough...

Nice Ad....

Wouldn't you say so... Nam and me were in this huge clothing store and we were making fun of all the models on display (there was one of hrithik in which he looked kinda gayish) when we came across this one. Seriously, dark people are more better looking....

Tawusi Melek: The Peacock Angel

The Last Girl (2017) by a Yezidi survivor, Nadia Murad, is filled with the bone-chilling sort of evil that the ISIS is synonymous with. Nadia poignantly captures the plight of her Yazidi village, Kocho, as the threat of ISIS looms large in the distance before becoming a reality. As with the Holocaust, no one really anticipates the amount or intensity of evil that could reside in the indoctrinated hearts of men. Otherwise, nobody would willingly stay back in their towns or villages waiting for the genocide of their race. One of Nadia’s brother’s, Hezni, did try to go Germany, by crossing the northern Iraqi border on foot into Turkey, from where they (the brother and a few others) made their way to Istanbul, then paid a smuggler to take them into Greece. But they were discovered and had to spend a horrible time in prison. So, the fact is people did try to leave, but like Nadia explains, it isn’t easy to leave the only place one has ever known. I still think that being forced to

A tribute to the crazy bunch....

Here are a few picutres that won't find a place in the wedding album... but they were equally (some of them, even more) memorable. Everybody loves sunoj.... I was so happy to see them all...... (first time they were coming to my new place) Sunoj again.... hanging out with this guy is like shopping, ice cream, chocolates... etc. You can't get enough of them. The crazy cousins gave us a very interesting gift... this gift will be with us for six months then it will start its cycle of educating the owners. Though I doubt my cousins need much education in that department. It was fun opening the book and Jardin being the smart guy wanted somethin read from page 69. It was so cute the way Sunoj quickly picked up "The Magic Faraway Tree Series" from the corner and gave me to hold up when Robert uncle walked into the room (turns out he was the one who bought the book). I still remember Robert uncle laughing his head off.... good times. This wa
