Day 4 in Barcelona

So after a great third day, our fourth day in Barcelona was spent just chilling in the room and checking out a few restaurants, because my brother was feverish and he didn't want to go anywhere. Me and Nam, didn't want to stay in the room whole day, so we decided to go to Zara, which is quite close to where we were staying...
On the way picked up an empanada from one of the kiosks on Las Ramblas
Stopped at a quaint place for coffee...
And took a window selfie...
Barrel tables...
Around lunch time we reached Casalolea, a restaurant Marc (@igmam71), recommended, Vinod met us here.
These were the specials, and that first one, pasta risotto with black truffle was so amazing...
 we ordered it twice.
Something my brother had... looks like white wine.
Cold cuts and cheese...

The first time I was tasting Sangria...

And absolutely loved it...
Casalolea decor...
Lolea...
A lot of sides... octopus, fish and some other things. I'm not big on seafood, but my brother loves them...
These potatoes (patatas bravas) were pretty awesome...
The typical Catalan dessert, Mel i matò' with honey and fruits... loved every molecule of this. As desserts go, this is pretty healthy and there's a palpitating freshness in every bite.
After lunch we just strolled along the quaint lanes of Barcelona...
Pretty balconies...
More beautiful lanes...
A pretty entrance...
We walked to Born, saw the Arch of Barcelona...
Walked these pretty streets
With pretty locations...
Amazing architecture everywhere...
Walked into this coffee shop, just because it was so eclectic...
I forgot the name of this coffee shop...
More lanes...
With cozy courtyards...
And a church here and there...
School/College kids doing their work...
Walked towards the port and there was a flea market...
compasses...
pretty collection...
Brass stuff...
vintage wall decor...
victorian stuff...
Walked back home, towards our apartment and went to our favourite place for snacks.
The fairytale-ish, El Bosc de les Fades
Coffee...
Some croquettes and an empanda...
And I of course, ordered the cake... which was really good.
Then we went back to the room, there was some demonstration on the way...
The beautiful book shop...
It was our last night in Barcelona and my brother had a fever, and we could have called it a night after walking around so much during the day... but the energy of Barcelona is pretty infectious and we ventured out again pretty late to just roam around the little streets and get lost in the maze of the Gothic quarter.
And we stumbled upon can culleretes for dinner... I ordered some cannolini, and they were rather amazing.
One of the siblings had this...
The other had this seafood platter....
Can Culleretes is one of the oldest restaurants in Barcelona...
And the photographs prove it...
Had some dessert...
I think this is the Mel i matò'...
The floor pattern in the oldest establishment in Barcelona...
Reached the apartment, packed and went to sleep. We had to be up by 3am, and catch a cab by 4am to reach the airport.
And at 4 am this was the scene on Las Ramblas, still buzzing with people and police. The people, who were mostly in their twenties, were just sitting around drinking and swaying drunkenly; partying all through the night. It was pretty amazing to find the place still active when we were leaving, felt like Barcelona was subtly telling us to live it up too... wherever we find ourselves. Unbelievable... these four days in Barcelona was just that, beauty, energy, love and good food everywhere.

Nice Ad....

Wouldn't you say so... Nam and me were in this huge clothing store and we were making fun of all the models on display (there was one of hrithik in which he looked kinda gayish) when we came across this one. Seriously, dark people are more better looking....

Tawusi Melek: The Peacock Angel

The Last Girl (2017) by a Yezidi survivor, Nadia Murad, is filled with the bone-chilling sort of evil that the ISIS is synonymous with. Nadia poignantly captures the plight of her Yazidi village, Kocho, as the threat of ISIS looms large in the distance before becoming a reality. As with the Holocaust, no one really anticipates the amount or intensity of evil that could reside in the indoctrinated hearts of men. Otherwise, nobody would willingly stay back in their towns or villages waiting for the genocide of their race. One of Nadia’s brother’s, Hezni, did try to go Germany, by crossing the northern Iraqi border on foot into Turkey, from where they (the brother and a few others) made their way to Istanbul, then paid a smuggler to take them into Greece. But they were discovered and had to spend a horrible time in prison. So, the fact is people did try to leave, but like Nadia explains, it isn’t easy to leave the only place one has ever known. I still think that being forced to

A tribute to the crazy bunch....

Here are a few picutres that won't find a place in the wedding album... but they were equally (some of them, even more) memorable. Everybody loves sunoj.... I was so happy to see them all...... (first time they were coming to my new place) Sunoj again.... hanging out with this guy is like shopping, ice cream, chocolates... etc. You can't get enough of them. The crazy cousins gave us a very interesting gift... this gift will be with us for six months then it will start its cycle of educating the owners. Though I doubt my cousins need much education in that department. It was fun opening the book and Jardin being the smart guy wanted somethin read from page 69. It was so cute the way Sunoj quickly picked up "The Magic Faraway Tree Series" from the corner and gave me to hold up when Robert uncle walked into the room (turns out he was the one who bought the book). I still remember Robert uncle laughing his head off.... good times. This wa
