Contemplations and Ruminations

My eyes are aching and all I want to do right now is to shut down the system, take out my book; 'Teacher Man' by Frank McCourt and read it. I wonder why this office can't give us a day off for Good Friday, anyway thanks to them I can atleast attend an hour's benediction in St. Thomas Basilica , which is quite near my office. I am looking forward to that cause I love this church, its pretty ancient and it is built over the tomb of St.Thomas. It is one of three churches in the world to be built over the tomb of an apostle of Christ. The other two churches built over the tomb of an apostle are St. Peter's Basilica at Rome, Italy and the Saint James the great at Santiago, Spain Santiago de Compostela. So here I am sitting in office on a Saturday and wondering what to do…. I don’t mind sitting here though, everybody is so relaxed and nobody ever works, or maybe they do work, only it doesn’t seem like that. It’s actually quiet and peaceful; I guess everybody is pretending to work… like me. I have a huge list in my head about the things I want to do tomorrow, and going to the library tops that list. I just finished reading “Circle of Friends” by Maeve Binchy and I loved it. It’s a story about two girls who grow up together in a convent school and when its time to go to university in the big town of Dublin, they discover gradually that they can depend on each other and their convent school upbringing to see them through the trying times. It was beautifully written, and it struck so close to home. I picked up another M&B book along with this Binchy book and I am going to return it tomorrow without bothering to complete it. A few good movies I saw last month..... The Shawshank Redemption: The movie is actually based on a book by Stephen King called "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption". I read this book long back in college, and I remember that the concluding was stunning. The movie captures it beautifully.... I liked the book, it was about hope, a hope so strong and powerful, it makes you capable of facing any adversity. This sentence that Andy Dufresne (the protagonist played by Tim Robbins) says in the movie, kinda stuck with me; "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies". Nameeta my tv guide is here in town, so naturally she got me hooked onto Grey's Anatomy again. I had enough trouble unhooking myself from it the last season. I got so sucked into the life of Meredith Grey and that atrociously handsome Dr. Derek Shepherd, I used to go around feeling so sorry for Meredith and hating Derek for what he did to her and then falling in love with Derek all over again when he too strived to hold on to his marriage of 11 years while still being in love with Meredith. By the middle of season two I was too much into hating Derek one week and then loving him the next... that I couldn't stand it anymore, I had to wean myself away from that show. So this Saturday when Nameeta said, "Hey guess what's coming on TV tomorrow.... the new season of Grey's Anatomy", I knew there was nothing I could do. A glance at the last couple of months that flew by. It started off with the waiting... the waiting to meet my family & the cousins in Bombay. Tonio made the wait unbearable by coming up with lines like "Don't waste time packing, the tickets are not confirmed yet" or "I lost the air tickets, so you can forget about going to Bombay" ... stuff like that. After reaching Bombay I went to a lot of places, met a lot of people but one incident 'bout the whole wedding activity that stands out the most is the time I spent with the bridesmaids, Sheena and Megha on the day of the wedding. We went to get our hair done and to pick up the bridal bouquet, en route we stoped at this place called Candies to pick up something to eat. There everything looked so good, we picked up quite a lot.
