Choir party...

The choir gang back home had a party on August 15th and looks like they had a lot of fun. I miss being part of that choir, it was fun practising every Saturday and trying to make an impression on Sunday's. Here are a few pictures of the fun gang... the gang I miss....
They are playing musical chairs.... here
Grandma cutting the cake....
Kudos to them, for Staying Alive and I hope they flourish and don't let go of their youthful zest.

Sarangi in Chennai - A Review

So when my sister was in town we visited Sarangi, the Kanjivaram sari store located at Sterling Avenue, Nungambakkam. Kept seeing their pretty ads in the paper, each day their ad would display a beautiful sari with a flourish.

See what I mean... about the ads, nicely done. So we decided to check them out... and we were pleasantly surprised. This isn't your ordinary shop, it's a tastefully decorated house that has sari's in various hues draped all over the place. And the collection they have is pretty good, of course it's mostly for grand occasions... and the prices go up as you move from room to room.   Sari's displayed in a room... hanging over the door and the curtain rod. One of the pretty rooms...  A pretty mirror... and my sister reflected in it. A row of mirrors... to check out yourself after trying out a sari. The place has loads of natural lighting... I love that about any place.  Indian art... poor clarity, cause of all the reflection. A few lavish weddin…

Santhi Nilayam, School for the Mentally Challenged...

After a long long time, I visited the special school I used to work in, and the kids have all grown up...tiny tots now taller than me and sprouting facial hair!!! I was flummoxed... gosh, time changes everyone and everything. Wonder what changes they saw in me... anyway, I was just happy to be backthere. Went early to catch sight of that yellow school bus turning the corner and to watch all the kids tumbling out. While I was working there, that yellow bus turning the corner always marked the start of an exciting day. Right from the moment the kids hit the ground, the fun starts... that place will always be shrouded in hues of warm sunshine in my memory, it is a great place to be.  On the way to school, came across a few students... The special school, Santhi Nilayam (means Abode of Peace)  Great place...  The school bus and the kids... The assembly itself is heartwarming, a kid recites the prayers and the others repeat after him, in their characteristic sounds and half utterances.  T…

Day 4 in Barcelona

So after a great third day, our fourth day in Barcelona was spent just chilling in the room and checking out a few restaurants, because my brother was feverish and he didn't want to go anywhere. Me and Nam, didn't want to stay in the room whole day, so we decided to go to Zara, which is quite close to where we were staying... On the way picked up an empanada from one of the kiosks on Las Ramblas Stopped at a quaint place for coffee... And took a window selfie... Barrel tables... Around lunch time we reached Casalolea, a restaurant Marc (@igmam71), recommended, Vinod met us here. These were the specials, and that first one, pasta risotto with black truffle was so amazing...  we ordered it twice. Something my brother had... looks like white wine. Cold cuts and cheese...
The first time I was tasting Sangria...

And absolutely loved it... Casalolea decor... Lolea... A lot of sides... octopus, fish and some other things. I'm not big on seafood, but my brother loves them...  The…
