Mountain gods with their gentle songs...

This picture was taken circa 1990 when the mountain gods (the western ghats) with their gentle song were all we could see everywhere we looked. Check out the mud bound road and the half-saree clad higher secondary students (akkas then)... life was amazing here, it took me years to realise that.

Here I am at one of the mountains thirty years later, just soaking in nature and contemplating how far I've come from that little girl who hated this village and couldn't wait to leave. Life always surprises you in the most beautiful of ways when you learn to go with the flow. You may not get the view you were hoping for, but you will be rendered speechless by the view that awaits you, it will be something you never thought could exist and yet here you are... reveling at how the universe has always got your back.
This is one of the pristine beaches back home... the sun on one side, moon on the other.
I sit here typing all this as the rains fall outside while I sip on warm tea from this heartwarming gift (the PhD cup) from Sarah, who knows me right from the time I set foot in the little village, at the tip of the Indian Peninsular where oceans meet like melting dreams. Sarah used to sit behind me in the fifth grade and now whenever we meet up it's like going back in time. From the double braided ten-year-old girls, we've sure come a long way. Last week we went to a neighbouring village and here are a few pictures...
The beautiful western ghats... our gentle sentinels.
A canal in one of the surrounding villages...
 Bovine company
 Rubber plantation
The village river...
Sarah gave me another cup with the wordings: I disappear into books, what's your superpower?
Whatever may be your superpower, let it be based on love and let it transform you.

That road, those compounded walls where people could live like they never needed the other, these days to realize no one knows the other... we all travel back to those roads again

Nice Ad....

Wouldn't you say so... Nam and me were in this huge clothing store and we were making fun of all the models on display (there was one of hrithik in which he looked kinda gayish) when we came across this one. Seriously, dark people are more better looking....

I hope the world doesn't end in 2012, I have a whole lot of books to read...

I heard bout Flipkart.com from Anju and that site has changed my life. All the books that I have been searching for since centuries, are now sitting prettily on my book shelf. Landmark is a thing of the past now... in fact Landmark is not what it used to be anymore, they do not seem to have stock on most of the good books. So I am deliriously thankful to the creators of flipkart, I seriously love you guys... continue with your fabulous work. Talking of books, here are a few people who have enriched my life with their recommendations of the written word... My brother Manoj for buying the ' The Partner ' by John Grisham . Now I hadn't heard of Grisham before so the book was just lying there at home. One day I got bored and picked it up, that was the start of my love affair with Grisham and legal thrillers in general. This was the first John Grisham book I read and it was in a word mindblowing. I couldn't set the book down, my heart was racing away with Patrick Laniga...

Interesting churches from around the world...

Came across these spectacular churches while trying to search for simple and rustic ideas for my (very soon to be constructed) church back home. Thorn Crown Chapel This is the Thorn Crown Chapel located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas... looks pretty neat huh. Church of Hallgrímur The Hallgrímskirkja (a Lutheran church) is located in Iceland, and it is designed to resemble basalt lava flows that are characteristic of Iceland. The church is also used as an observation tower. Chapelle of Saint Michel The Chapelle of Saint Michel perched atop a needle of a rock is located in Auvergne, France. 268 stone steps wind their way up to this quaint little ancient church. Doesn't it look absolutely dreamy... Borgund Stave Church This is the Borgund Stave Church located in Lærdal, Norway... t'was built somewhere in the late 12th century, definitely awesome. Las Lajas Cathedral The Las Lajas Cathedral (Sanctuary of our Lady) located in Columbia, South America is certainly awe inspiri...
