Aslan, Challex and Dardagny

July 25th, 2022, was a Monday and Vinod dropped and picked us up in Christ the King church, mass was good enough. I made vegetable rice at home; it was hot, so didn't go out in the morning.
Evening went to Cafe Slatkine in Old Town, but they didn't have most things on the menu. So just had some coffee and a small slice of cake, then walked around.
My brother had this...
What a majestic door knocker... the lines about Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia come to mind.
Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.
~ C.S. Lewis (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)

Another door knocker...
Spotted a cool car while walking...
Looks like a batmobile...
St. Pierre Cathedral...
Just a pretty building... I like the arched window.
View from the church ground...
Mom sitting in one of the benches below...
My sister and dad...
Pretty gate...
Me taking a picture of the pretty gate... travelling with a sister is the best, they capture you in your element.
Ate dinner at Chez Ma Cousine, chicken nuggets and potato with salad. It was good enough.
I don't remember who had this... looks pretty good though.
Rotisserie chicken...
Some salad bowl...
Panna cotta...
Came home and slept cause of the gritty eyes... no matter how many times I washed them, I could still feel the grittiness whenever I blinked, like a grain of sand was stuck somewhere. I thought it was my kajal, then realised that it was the sun. After this I started wearing sunglasses whenever  I went out, and that solved matters.
A colourful building...
July 26th, 2002, was a Tuesday and I made butter chicken in the morning, it came out well. Mood was a bit off, cause of the drama about tickets (dad wanted to leave early to India) and what not. Anyway, went to jumbo in the evening to buy bulb, then Notre Dame church for mass, then a cafe (not worth mentioning), then came home cause no one is interested in doing anything after morning's drama.
But me and mom went for a walk nearby... saw this pretty display outside a home.
Paintings on a building...

July 27th 2022, Wednesday
I didn't go to church in the morning, cause of the grainy feeling in my eye (before I started wearing sunglasses). Teens and Edwin called and that was fun. Then started reading 'Girls from Aimes' (a book I picked up in the free library here) and it's starting to sound real good. Then we had to leave the house cause Lucy akka (my brother's housekeeper) was coming, so went to Plainpalais and looked around... there's a flea market every Wednesday in Plainpalais.
Vintage books...
Saw the Bhagavad Gita stacked here...
I like these corner chairs...
We walked around a bit, then went to Manor, ate lunch there... here's my petite salad.
We then drove to Challex, a small locality...
The church in Chellex...
Inside church 16... a very quiet and unassuming church.
Stunning in its simplicity...
I like all the natural light flowing in... isn't the sun more sacred and life-giving  than anything created by the hands of humankind...
Then drove to Dardagny, beautiful place...
Pretty flowers...
The windows, the flowers...
A watering trough filled with flowers...
Houses covered in greenery...
Picture perfect...
Found some playground, so sat on the swings...
Windows like this look cute... but can you leave them open?
Church 17 near Dardagny
Mother Mary looks different... like someone drew her then pulled her out from the paper.
Cute nook

The rolling hills near church... There were no cafes in the villages we visited, so we drove back to
Les Recyclables in Geneva...
Had this apple tart and goat cheese quiche... both were okay.

Then shopped a bit in migros, picked up Vinod and came home. Made puff pastry with vegetable mince meat (from ikea) for everyone, it was surprisingly good. Started watching an Emilia Clark movie, Me Before You, she's cute.  Next post will be about our road trip to France, stay tuned.

Nice Ad....

Wouldn't you say so... Nam and me were in this huge clothing store and we were making fun of all the models on display (there was one of hrithik in which he looked kinda gayish) when we came across this one. Seriously, dark people are more better looking....

A tribute to the crazy bunch....

Here are a few picutres that won't find a place in the wedding album... but they were equally (some of them, even more) memorable. Everybody loves sunoj.... I was so happy to see them all...... (first time they were coming to my new place) Sunoj again.... hanging out with this guy is like shopping, ice cream, chocolates... etc. You can't get enough of them. The crazy cousins gave us a very interesting gift... this gift will be with us for six months then it will start its cycle of educating the owners. Though I doubt my cousins need much education in that department. It was fun opening the book and Jardin being the smart guy wanted somethin read from page 69. It was so cute the way Sunoj quickly picked up "The Magic Faraway Tree Series" from the corner and gave me to hold up when Robert uncle walked into the room (turns out he was the one who bought the book). I still remember Robert uncle laughing his head off.... good times. This wa

Tawusi Melek: The Peacock Angel

The Last Girl (2017) by a Yezidi survivor, Nadia Murad, is filled with the bone-chilling sort of evil that the ISIS is synonymous with. Nadia poignantly captures the plight of her Yazidi village, Kocho, as the threat of ISIS looms large in the distance before becoming a reality. As with the Holocaust, no one really anticipates the amount or intensity of evil that could reside in the indoctrinated hearts of men. Otherwise, nobody would willingly stay back in their towns or villages waiting for the genocide of their race. One of Nadia’s brother’s, Hezni, did try to go Germany, by crossing the northern Iraqi border on foot into Turkey, from where they (the brother and a few others) made their way to Istanbul, then paid a smuggler to take them into Greece. But they were discovered and had to spend a horrible time in prison. So, the fact is people did try to leave, but like Nadia explains, it isn’t easy to leave the only place one has ever known. I still think that being forced to
