Hooked on Tumse hi....

I picked up a few books by A.J. Cronin last month.... and some of them turned out to be really good.
  1. The Keys of the Kingdom: This was a great read, loved the way he protrayed the faith and belief of a humble priest, Fr. Francis Chisolm. Fr. Chisolm is sent as a missionary to China, cause his way of thinking was unlike the other priests of his time. He was unconventional, he believed that God was the same... whatever name you use to call Him by. His attitude towards the protestant missionaries was rather nice too, he welcomed them instead of shunning their ways. I sent a copy of this book to my parish priest cause he seems to be facing the same kind of oppositions and obstacles any priest faces with a few parishners rooted in self righteous behaviour and a puffed up opinion of themselves.
  2. Adventures of a black bag: This was a pretty good book too, it's a collection of short stories in the life of a certain Dr. Finlay. (A.J.Cronin is a doctor by profession and he gave up his medical career to concentrate on his writing.) It was pretty cute the way Dr. Finlay falls for nurse Angus. The dedication and temperament of the good doctor was endearing. This one sentence in the book was so funny, it stuck with me, "As though his cup of wretchedness was not already overflowing, he had to deal with this little problem too."
  3. The Citadel: This is a story about a doctor who starts his career treating patients in a small mining village and then slowly moves to the big city of London in search of a better job. He ends up losing the very values he fought with his entire being, just to please a few high end folks. Very good book... liked the way the doctor gets swept away by the will to succeed and how he later pays for it terribly.
  4. Shannon's day: This was an okay book... nothing great. It was kinda dull at places, t'was about this young doctor who wanted to do his research more than anything else in the world, but something happened to him that hindered his progress, he happened to fall in love. Not worth reading.....
  5. Song of Six pence: This was so bad, I don't even remember what it's about.......
Anyway coming to movies, I saw this amazing hindi movie a few days back, Jab we met.... and loved it. It was surprisingly nice.... like one of those 'feel good' romantic flicks. Here's a song from that movie.... and now these lines are stuck in my head : "Mein kahin bhi jata hoon, Tumse hi mil jata hoon"

Saw this movie too, Giant and it was long... but nice. Elizabeth Taylor, looks the same when she is 20, 40, and 60.... slim and attractive, even after giving birth to three children. That's happily ever after for you.....

wow, shil.... nice to see you here. And I did search for The One by Jonathan Kellerman, in the library, but it was'nt there. This is the first time you are telling me about Thirteenth Warrior.
And the movie was not cheesy... that's why it was so good. Have you seen it shil? You wouldn't call 'Counterfeit Contessa' cheesy would you? Movie's like the 'Notebook' was chessy. It was written by that author, Nicholas Sparks...I gave you one of his books, now that story was downright sappy and cheesy.

Nice Ad....

Wouldn't you say so... Nam and me were in this huge clothing store and we were making fun of all the models on display (there was one of hrithik in which he looked kinda gayish) when we came across this one. Seriously, dark people are more better looking....

Tawusi Melek: The Peacock Angel

The Last Girl (2017) by a Yezidi survivor, Nadia Murad, is filled with the bone-chilling sort of evil that the ISIS is synonymous with. Nadia poignantly captures the plight of her Yazidi village, Kocho, as the threat of ISIS looms large in the distance before becoming a reality. As with the Holocaust, no one really anticipates the amount or intensity of evil that could reside in the indoctrinated hearts of men. Otherwise, nobody would willingly stay back in their towns or villages waiting for the genocide of their race. One of Nadia’s brother’s, Hezni, did try to go Germany, by crossing the northern Iraqi border on foot into Turkey, from where they (the brother and a few others) made their way to Istanbul, then paid a smuggler to take them into Greece. But they were discovered and had to spend a horrible time in prison. So, the fact is people did try to leave, but like Nadia explains, it isn’t easy to leave the only place one has ever known. I still think that being forced to

A tribute to the crazy bunch....

Here are a few picutres that won't find a place in the wedding album... but they were equally (some of them, even more) memorable. Everybody loves sunoj.... I was so happy to see them all...... (first time they were coming to my new place) Sunoj again.... hanging out with this guy is like shopping, ice cream, chocolates... etc. You can't get enough of them. The crazy cousins gave us a very interesting gift... this gift will be with us for six months then it will start its cycle of educating the owners. Though I doubt my cousins need much education in that department. It was fun opening the book and Jardin being the smart guy wanted somethin read from page 69. It was so cute the way Sunoj quickly picked up "The Magic Faraway Tree Series" from the corner and gave me to hold up when Robert uncle walked into the room (turns out he was the one who bought the book). I still remember Robert uncle laughing his head off.... good times. This wa
