The Lion hearted captain and his cubs...

I am so glad for Dhoni and the boys in yellow, they came out roaring when it mattered the most! I was so happy for our captain, I was happy to see him smiling and modestly brushing aside comments (regarding the strategic placing of Hayden in the 19th over) saying 'It's no rocket science'. I could have hugged him for his demeanor and charming attitude... and when he said something like I can't wait to lift the cup I felt my heart swelling with joy. You gotta love our captain Dhoni; his grit, his determination, his nerves of steel, his gut feeling and above all his street smartness is what makes him indomitable. He's one of kind and he's awesome... another awesome guy is Raina. I like the way he fields, the catches he takes are amazing and he's pretty great too. Another player everybody has been talking bout is Murali Vijay, a good looking dude... he batted away to glory a few times and won us some crucial matches. Our lion hearted captain lifting the trophy w

A new hobby...

Making headbands, been seeing them on many blogs and they looked like such a fun project. I think this is gonna be a short lived hobby, even though they look nice, nobody really wears headbands here except kids. I do like the last rosette clips though, they are so cute and easy to make. Tonio is modelling them for me, though he doesn't seem to know that... he was busy playing some video game while I clipped them on and snapped a picture. Of course you will have to put them on, one at a time... they look so cute perched up on your hair. Nam, these are coming your way...

Summer sunshine...

Its that time of the year when you take bath at least 3 times a day, get addicted to buttermilk, curse the folks at the electricity board to hell and back when they abruptly shut down the power supply, and wonder why people in a tropical country like India do not dress according to the climate... we still wear saree, salwar kameez's and kurta's in this sweltering heat. Don't you think a tank top with shorts or a skirt would be more comfortable... if I were a celebrity in Tamil Nadu, I would be hauled to court for saying tank tops and our country in the same sentence. In a way I am glad the supreme court ruled in a worthy manner regarding the pre marital sex case that's all over the papers here. If you ask me, it all comes down to a matter of personal choice, its upto the parents to instill values in their children... the children grow up to make their own decisions and who's to say whether its right or wrong. I think people everywhere should adopt the attitude '

It pays to clear out your cupboard from time to time...

So I was clearing out my cupboard yesterday and guess what I found, my old water colour set and a half used cone of mehendi which Nameeta had given me long back. I like colours, in fact when I was a kid I was crazy bout colour pencils, I had a huge stack of them and would not let anybody else touch them. Now I seem to like water colours, I like the way its so easy to blend them and create a totally different shade... I like dabbing the brush on paper and seeing the beautiful colors come to life. I know, I seem to be talking like some world class painter... I used up the cone last night and I was just settling down with a book when Antonio came home, he looked at my hand, laughed and said, 'Will you draw one for me too, I want the Chennai Super Kings logo on my arm...' Boys.....! PS: I am keeping my fingers crossed for the men in yellow... even though I don't follow these matches, I watch the highlights with Antonio, cause he keeps saying, 'You have to see this catch!&#

Edward, Leonardo & Clooney...

I just finished reading ' The Lost World and other stories ' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the lead character Dr. Edward Challenger is a riot, Sheldon Cooper must have been modeled after him... they have the same pompous arrogant nature and both regard themselves as superior intellectual beings. There was a story in the book bout how the spirits of dead people come in contact with us living beings, it was spiritual and spooky at the same time... so I rummaged in the dark and managed to find this Holy Family night lamp I got as a wedding gift. I switched it on and settled down to sleep but Tonio woke up glared at me and asked me if something was wrong with my head... so I explained (with a lot of actions) bout the book I had just read, he gave me one bewildered look and said 'Why do you read such books then!'. Yeah right, I must get all my excitement from the IPL matches I suppose... Talking bout spooky, I saw Shutter Island recently and it was freaking interesting

Easter Greetings...

I always wonder why Easter isn't as big as Christmas... I mean who wouldn't want to celebrate the knowledge that death isn't the end of everything, that one day we too will be resurrected and live forever in the Father's Kingdom. It is this knowledge that should shape our lives, if people believed this then they would try to live their temporary life on this planet in a meaningful way... yeah I know, I must have really been into catechism classes when I was a kid and it might be that effect, but its what I believe. Here is a picture of the Benediction after mass on Maundy Thursday... prayers and adoration go on throughout the night. So on Good Friday, I went to church a little early and since a really really really nice father (Fr. Richard) was there listening to confessions, I decided to go to him. This is something I learnt a few years back, if you want to make a good confession make sure a sensible father is around, a father who will really listen and speak sense. So

The Tragedy of the Coconut Trees...

So the people down the lane have given up their land to the builders to construct apartments and a massacre took place... five majestic coconut trees and a luxurious tamarind tree were chopped down in a few hours. This is one of the reasons I liked Avatar, I loved the way they existed with nature, loved the way they worshiped her in the form of Eywa... loved the way they treated animal life with respect, especially liked the hammock like cocoon that they sleep in. I wish they (the Na'vi) would come to earth and overtake us and transform the way we live... cause obviously we don't seem to learn. Here he is climbing up the first tree... He sure is brave, that tree is about 40 feet high and he scampers up it without any regard for his safety... Silhouetted against the sky... He has chopped off the branches and now he has scampered down to cut the tree mid way, so that it doesn't crash into the neighbouring houses. He has attached that dangling rope to the top most part of the
